Marmalade

Marmalade delves into the bittersweet journey of grief and preservation of memory following the death of my grandmother. As a pivotal figure in my childhood, my grandmother’s passing marked the abrupt end of an era, profoundly shaping my experience of adulthood. Through ‘Marmalade’, I navigate the complexities of longing for childhood comforts and my grandmother through an immersion into ancestral traditions and nature stemming from our Celtic Heritage. The project employs digital, film, archival material and language to articulate these themes as well as a posthumous collaboration of my grandmothers photographs and written texts. Woven throughout the body of work is the use of the Ancient Celtic language ‘Ogham’ which acts as a private bridge of communication between my Grandmother and I. This work will be presented as a book with an exhibition to support it.
